Welcome to Qutekcak Voices:
Our Stories, Our Community, Our Future
Every community has stories worth telling.
Stories of resilience.
Stories of tradition.
Stories of growth.
Stories of people quietly making a difference every day.
Qutekcak Voices was created to give those stories a home.
This new blog from Qutekcak Native Tribe will be a place to share what is happening throughout our Tribe and the greater Seward community, celebrate the people who make this community special, provide information about programs and resources, and tell the stories behind the work we do.
Because behind every program, event, partnership, and initiative is something more important than a report or statistic.
There are people.
There are families.
There are generations.
And there are stories that deserve to be heard.
More Than News
Qutekcak Voices will certainly keep our community informed, but we want it to be more than a place for announcements.
We want this to be a place for connection.
A place where Tribal citizens can learn about opportunities and resources.
A place where our youth can see themselves represented and celebrated.
A place where the knowledge and experiences of our Elders can be honored.
A place where community accomplishments can be recognized.
A place where important issues can be discussed with compassion and understanding.
And a place where people outside our Tribe can better understand the work, values, culture, and community of Qutekcak Native Tribe.
Sharing the Stories Behind the Work
Sometimes people see the finished project without seeing everything it took to get there.
They see a new program.
A community event.
A grant award.
A new resource.
A partnership.
A youth activity.
A health initiative.
But behind each of those accomplishments are months—and sometimes years—of conversations, planning, partnerships, problem-solving, funding, volunteers, staff members, Tribal leadership, and community members working together.
Qutekcak Voices will help tell those stories.
We want you to know why the work matters, who helped make it possible, and how it connects to the larger mission of strengthening our community.
Celebrating Our Youth
Our young people are not simply the leaders of tomorrow.
They are an important part of our community today.
Through Qutekcak Voices, we will highlight youth programs, education, activities, accomplishments, opportunities, culture, leadership, and the many ways young people are contributing to our community.
We want our youth to know that their ideas matter.
Their dreams matter.
Their voices matter.
And their connection to community matters.
When we invest in young people, we invest in generations that have not even been born yet.
Honoring Our Elders
Our Elders carry knowledge that cannot be replaced.
They carry memories, traditions, lessons, experiences, language, stories, and perspectives that connect generations.
Qutekcak Voices will provide opportunities to honor those who came before us and preserve the stories and knowledge that help shape who we are today.
Progress does not require leaving the past behind.
Our strongest future is built when we understand where we came from.
Culture, Identity, and Connection
Culture is not something that belongs only in history books or museums.
It lives through people.
It lives through stories, family, traditions, food, art, language, relationships, teachings, and the ways communities care for one another.
Qutekcak Voices will celebrate those connections while creating space for conversations about what it means to carry culture forward in a changing world.
Our stories help connect one generation to the next.
And when those stories are shared, they remain alive.
Community Health and Wellness
A strong community is a healthy community.
Qutekcak Native Tribe continues working to expand access to resources that support physical, mental, emotional, and community well-being.
Through this blog, we will share information about health initiatives, prevention programs, community resources, wellness opportunities, partnerships, and projects designed to make services more accessible.
That includes initiatives such as our Community Health Vending Machine, which is helping bring important health and harm reduction resources directly to Seward.
But health is much larger than one program.
It includes prevention.
Food access.
Mental wellness.
Healthy families.
Safe communities.
Connection.
Education.
And ensuring people know where to turn when they need assistance.
Building Partnerships That Strengthen Seward
Qutekcak Native Tribe is part of a larger community.
The health and success of Tribal citizens and the health and success of Seward are deeply connected.
Many of the projects we undertake are possible because organizations, governments, businesses, nonprofits, healthcare providers, agencies, volunteers, and community members are willing to work together.
Qutekcak Voices will recognize those partnerships and introduce you to some of the people behind them.
Collaboration allows communities to accomplish things that no single organization could accomplish alone.
When the right people come together around a shared goal, possibilities grow.
Opportunities and Resources
Sometimes an opportunity can change someone's path.
A scholarship.
A youth program.
Employment.
Training.
Food assistance.
Health resources.
A community event.
An Elder service.
A new program.
Or simply knowing that someone is available to help.
Qutekcak Voices will help us share those opportunities with the people who need to know about them.
We want this blog to become another way for community members to stay connected to what is available through Qutekcak Native Tribe and our partners.
Celebrating Progress
Community work is often focused on the next challenge.
There is always another grant to write, another program to build, another family to help, another need to address, or another project waiting to begin.
But it is also important to recognize progress.
Qutekcak Voices will celebrate the victories—large and small.
We will recognize the people doing good work.
We will share milestones.
We will highlight community accomplishments.
And we will take time to appreciate what can happen when people work together.
Progress deserves to be celebrated.
Having Important Conversations
Not every community story is easy.
Communities also face difficult issues.
Substance misuse.
Missing and Murdered Indigenous People.
Violence.
Food insecurity.
Housing challenges.
Mental health.
Generational trauma.
Economic hardship.
Barriers to services.
Protecting culture and sovereignty.
These conversations matter too.
Qutekcak Voices will not exist only to tell the easy stories.
It will also create space to talk about challenges, raise awareness, share resources, and highlight the people and organizations working toward solutions.
Awareness is often where change begins.
Our Community Is Bigger Than Numbers
Reports and statistics are important.
They help us understand needs, measure progress, secure resources, and demonstrate impact.
But numbers never tell the entire story.
Behind every number is a person.
Behind every service provided is a family.
Behind every program is a reason it was needed.
Behind every accomplishment are people who refused to give up.
Qutekcak Voices will help us tell the part of the story that numbers cannot.
The human part.
A Place for Qutekcak Voices
The name of this blog was chosen intentionally.
Qutekcak Voices.
Not one voice.
Many voices.
Our youth.
Our Elders.
Our families.
Our staff.
Our Tribal leadership.
Our partners.
Our community members.
And the generations whose stories continue through us.
There will always be more stories to tell.
More people to recognize.
More traditions to honor.
More challenges to address.
More victories to celebrate.
And more opportunities to strengthen the community we share.
This is only the beginning.
Welcome to Qutekcak Voices.
Our stories. Our community. Our future.
